In Tornados we are trialling a new idea for the coming term. We often use partner work and lead learners to aid the children's learning and to further this we are introducing a new role of 'student coaches'. The role of a student coach will be to support the learning of others. This will not impact on their own learning as this will take place in our 'responding' time.
Our coaches will have a chance to experience what being a teacher is like, developing their role as independent learners and the children in turn will benefit from peer support.
The coaches have all had a mini-interview with Mr Christopher. Our coaches for the following term are:
Well done to all 5 on becoming Tornados first coaching team.
Our Superstar learner this week is Bradley
Our Citizen this week is Kacey
Well done to both we are extremely proud!
In our English we will be learning about fantasy stories and focusing on using grammar. If your child enjoys any particular stories please encourage them to read at home! We have recently replenished our library corners so there are plenty available. We will also be covering recounts and poetry.
In Topic this term we will continue our learning about Anglo-Saxons. We will be learning facts and looking at how they lived. We will also be organising a timeline of various events in British History.
Our Maths learning this term will involve; number and place value, geometry, addition and subtraction. We will be starting with number and moving onto geometry in the later weeks. If you can practice any real life examples of this please do!
Art this term will involve lots of exploration. We will be looking at creating collages and using the work of a variety of artists for inspiration. You can help your child at home by suggesting they create a collage to bring in to show!
In Computing we will begin to look at digital media and discussing the role of Computing in a technological world. We will be exploring different ways of producing and storing data.
Our Geography this term will be taught through our History lessons, looking at Anglo Saxon settlements. We will be focusing further on Geography throughout Term 4.
In Music we will be following the music express scheme to further our children's depth of knowledge.
Our PSHE topic this term is ‘Going for goals’. We will also be focusing on setting and achieving realistic short term and longer term goals for each child.
Our RE this term will be focused on Christianity. We will learn about significant religious stories and figures.
In Spanish this term we will be learning about greetings and counting. We will be learning how to greet others in Spanish and practicing how to count.
