Year 5 have recently been learning about the properties of 3D shapes. This problem solving Friday involved matching up the correct nets with the correct 3D shapes. All children had lots of fun predicting, using their prior knowledge from their Maths learning about faces, edges and vertices and then proving it by making the nets using polydron and squared paper.
Geography Enrichment Afternoon
Last term,Year 5 participated in a geography enrichment afternoon. This involved a range of activities from an orienteering style scavenger hunt around the school grounds to find letters to spell out a specific word (using picture clues), a search for unnatural objects placed in nature (e.g. rubbish) and locating nature type objects representing different colours you would find in the natural environment such as: orange, green, brown colours represented using a collection of leaves, grass, sticks, mini apples, flowers and much much more!
All of the children had a fantastic afternoon and enjoyed being in the great outdoors!
In term 1, the whole of Year 5 performed their annual harvest festival assembly. All of the children worked extremely hard to put on an amazing performance. The assembly contained lots of singing, the re-telling and acting of the bible story, "Feeding the five thousand" and some important information about Harvest time and sharing with others. Here are some pictures of the rehearsals!
Water Bottles and Snacks
Please can you ensure your child has a named water bottle in school everyday. Your child's locker is just outside the classroom door, so water bottles can be either left in the classroom or in your child's locker.
Please can you ensure your child has a healthy snack at break time, which can be left in your child's locker.
